The crack of the bat and the cheers of teammates fill the air once again around Allegheny County as several senior softball leagues swing into action for another exciting season.
Penn Hills Men’s Senior Softball League
The Penn Hills Men’s Senior Softball League, open to men ages 55 and older, brings players together for friendly competition, camaraderie, and a shared love of the game. The league meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning at Penn Hills Park, providing a great opportunity for seniors to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. With six men’s teams battling it out on the diamond, the season officially kicked off on May 7 and will run through September 10. The full game schedule and additional details are available on the league’s website (below).
Players are asked to pay an annual membership fee of $50, while social members—those who wish to participate in non-playing capacities—pay $25. New players are always welcome to join the league, whether they are lifelong softball enthusiasts or newcomers looking to enjoy a fun and social athletic experience. Those interested in playing can sign up by filling out a form on the league’s website.

Penn Hills Women’s Senior Softball League
The Penn Hills Women’s Senior Softball League, open to all females ages 40 and older, has four teams: the Cougars, Smoking Seniors, Penn Hills Bubbas and Diamond Bats. All games are played at Penn Hills Community Park in Penn Hills on Wednesday evenings; each team plays two games per evening. While the league typically hosts a tournament on the third weekend of July, there is no tournament this year due to the Senior Summer Games. The 2026 season tournament will be a qualifier for the next Senior Games. The season runs from May 21 through late August.

Northern Allegheny County Senior Softball League
If you like playing slow-pitch, competitive softball, the Northern Allegheny County Senior Softball League (NACSSL) is now accepting applications for its 2025 season. Tryout evaluations generally take place during March and April—so while it may be too late to register for the 2025 season, mark your 2026 calendar with these dates.
The league has eight men’s teams in each of its two divisions. The Silver Division is for players ages 50 and older; the Gold Division is for ages 62 and older. The majority of the 28 games are played between May and August at the North Park Senior Ballfield Complex at the Lodge in North Park. Many of the participants compete in national tournaments in addition to regular league games. Come out and cheer on the players!
