Beaver County honors caregivers at annual recognition luncheon

The Beaver County Office on Aging’s Caregiver Support Program (CSP) hosted its 22nd annual caregiver recognition luncheon on June 24.  The theme this year was Salute to Caregivers. In keeping with the nation’s 250th birthday in July, the hall at Monaca Turners was decorated in red, white and blue.

CSP Supervisor Tesi Dye welcomed 12 caregivers and 20 guests and staff. Special guests included Commissioner Tony Amadio and BCOA Advisory Council members Cynthia Gleason and Susan Smith. Jill Phillips from JP Counseling and Associates spoke on the importance of Care for the Caregiver. She provided helpful tips and shared personal experiences as a caregiver. Tiffani Eckhart entertained the room with patriotic songs, along with a “name that tune” contest.

Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet luncheon and cake from Kretchmar’s Bakery.  Care managers honored the caregivers for their ongoing dedication to their loved ones by calling each one up to receive personal recognition. Each caregiver received a beautiful themed basket full of goodies, an Eat’n Park gift card and a book on caregiving.

The Caregiver Support Program provides care management support, benefits counseling and financial reimbursement to those providing care to their loved ones. Some caregivers on the program are caring for individuals ages 60 and older; others are grandparents ages 55 and older who are raising children under age 18. Eligible caregivers can be reimbursed for preapproved services, supplies, home modifications and assistive devices. Household income verification is required.

BCOA is currently looking to expand the number of CSP caregivers. To learn more or to apply, call (724) 847-2262.
